We fund innovative sport science & research FOR WOMEN ATHLETES.
We Research
The voice of the girls and women in sport is lacking in sports science and research. For over half a century, the focus has been on male athletes and male animal testing in early stage drug treatment trials. There is gender bias in basic science.
In 2016 the National Institute of Health rolled out a series of funding priorities and policy mandates to ensure that future scientific studies are balanced by gender.
At VOICEINSPORT Foundation™ we have mapped her journey in sport and identified all of the critical developmental milestones that need further sport science and research.
We are partnering with top University Programs, Non-Profit Organizations and Innovative Companies to fund research on women athlete’s body. Our focus is her mind, her nutrition and her body.
We educate girls in sport ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS & CREATE relatable content.
We Educate.
We educate girls in sport on their rights through formal Title IX Trainings across the country through the VIS Advocate Program.
We create content with her voice, so that she engages, learns and develops knowledge on critical topics during her journey in sport.
There is gender bias in science and when it comes to sport - the reporting of the research is also part of the problem. In many cases science and research may be conducted on both genders but the reporting and content creation is rarely focused on women athletes and rarely focused on directly speaking to the young woman athlete.
We are partnering with leading Universities, Non-Profit Organization’s and Innovative Companies to take existing or new research and create more engaging educational content for girls and women in sport.
Our content will focus on mental health, physical changes during critical developmental ages (e.g. puberty, breast development, social support system shifts, etc) and the link that sport has to advocacy.
We TAKE ACTION TO close the gap for girls in sport.
We Advocate.
In 1972 Title IX helped to level the playing field in the United States for girls & women in sport. Through advocacy and a new federal law, progress on equality in sport for girls & women accelerated.
Today we are listening to the voice of girls & women in sport and unfortunately there are still many inequalities in their sport journey. Inequities in sport exist at the professional level and are fairly visible in the media. But what we don’t see are the inequalities girls are facing at our middle schools, high schools and colleges.
Girls & women in sport are using their voice and sharing their stories with the VOICEINSPORT Foundation. What we have learned is that inequalities show up through fewer coaches, fewer trainers, less field access, lower media coverage, lower quality equipment, etc. Now more than ever it is critical we accelerate progress for girls and women in sports.
Our focus at VOICEINSPORT Foundation is to use the power of the collective voice of young girls and women in sport to identify the inequalities in sport. We have created the VIS Advocate Program which aims to be the largest grassroots initiative for girls and women in sport, ever. The goal is to close the gap that girls and women in sport face. Together we must accelerate progress, not let it fall behind.
The Title IX Micro Grant Program is a tangible way in which we activate on the ground with schools across the country. We fund girl-identified Title-IX qualified inequities at schools across the U.S., with a focus on high school and college.
